I want to relocate to Vancouver, Canada to live with my fiancee

I want to relocate to Vancouver, Canada to live with my fiancee permanently. What's the best way to become a citizen? Should I try to get a working visa or should we get married now so he can sponsor me? We want to wait on marriage since we can't really afford it at this time. Any suggestions?
